Grandma's Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 cup shortening
• 1 cup sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour (i use a little extra)
• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Directions

1. cream the shortening and sugar well
2. beat in eggs and vanilla
3. in separate bowl sift dry ingredients together
4. gradually blend dry ingredients into main bowl
5. chill dough at least 3 hours (more is fine)
6. roll into 1/8 - 1/4 inch thickness on lightly floured surface
7. cut with floured cookie cutters
8. bake @ 475F on **un** greased cookie sheet for 8-10 mins
